Driver Requirements

 

1.       Must meet all legal requirements to drive a commercial truck throughout the U.S.A.

2.       Must have a valid operators C.D.L. license with hazardous materials endorsement in state of residence.

3.       No serious traffic violations in last 3 years.

a.       Reckless/careless driving

b.       Driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.

c.       Hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident

d.       Excessive speeding involving any offense of 15 m.p.h. or over

e.       Improper or erratic traffic lane changes

f.        Following the vehicle ahead too close

g.       Violation arising from a fatal accident

h.       Driving without a CDL or without proper endorsements

4.       No current license suspensions/revocation.  A work permit is not acceptable.

5.       No more than 2 (non-serious) moving violations in the last 3 years.

6.       Experience in the operation of tractor/trailer equipment, with emphasis on flatbed type operation.

7.       Must make available C.D.L. license and original social security card with proper endorsements.

8.       Must be able to meet GFS Transportation, Inc.  work attendance/availability/physical standard requirements.

9.       Must be able to perform all essential functions of GFS Transportation, Inc.  driver’s job, including heavy lifting and manual type work with or without reasonable accommodation.

10.   Must be able to meet all applicable federal health and safety regulations, D.O.T. physical and drug screen administered by the GFS Transportation, Inc.  company doctor.

11.   Must have easy access to a telephone or cell phone.

12.   90 day probation period.

13.   You have the right to review information provided by previous employers in person at the GFS Transportation, Inc.  office, Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  You may have errors corrected by previous employers through your own personal efforts and have them resubmitted to GFS Transportation, Inc.  to be placed along with your application.  You may also place a rebuttal statement to be attached to your application for any erroneous information.

14.   Driver rebuttals with GFS Transportation, Inc.  must be completed in writing and hand carried in person to the GFS Transportation, Inc.  office to the Safety Department, Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m to 4 p.m.  Rebuttals will be reviewed and completed or denied weekly and returned to person requesting by regular ground mail at a correct address.

15.    GFS Transportation, Inc.  will be verifying all employment listed on your application for the previous three (3) years.  You must list all periods of unemployment or self-employment during your complete ten year history.
